With the recent trade war, it's more important than ever to buy local, wherever possible.  We wanted to know the truth behind many familiar brands in the chocolate industry. The below table is an easy reference to share what we've learned.

Chocolate Escapade: Owned and operated in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Ferrero: Headquarters in Alba, Piedmont, Italy. Some products made in Brantford, Ontario factory.

Hershey's: Headquarters in Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA. There are no active factories in Canada.

Lindt: Headquarters in Kilchberg, Switzerland. Made in Stratham, New Hampshire, USA. They have recently announced that they are working to import Canada's product from Europe, but currently product is from the US factory.

MARS: Headquarters in McLean, Virginia, USA.  Factory in Newmarket, Ontario to make Mars bars, but M&Ms are imported.

Mondelez: Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  They have many factories around the world, including one in Toronto, Canada. 

Nestle: Headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. Some products made in Toronto, Ontario factory. Quality Street and After Eight are made in West Yorkshire, England.
